In addition to the Cartridges for Kids collection bid in our school lobby, we initiated a collection center at our community recycling center which receives about 500 visitors a week. Our Thrasher Environmental Club members are proud of the amount of electronic materials were are now recycling instead of throwing away and we are going to use the funds we've raised to have The Chattanooga Nature Center come and do a program for our next meeting!

To promote recycling, the class bringing the most items was given a coupon for a free medium pizza courtesy of our local pizza shop. The students love pizza.

We held a book fair and promoted $1.00 off their purchase per ink cartridge brought in for recycling. We received approximately 400 cartridges in a 3 day period.

The students are learning about their "carbon footprint". When a child recycles or does something eco-friendly, they receive a paper footprint. We have a trail of paper footprints on the hallway walls, reminding the students to reuse and recycle.

At my Middle School, we have a monthly contest for a free recess (our kids will do anything for a free recess, and it is free!) The team of students that brings in the most each month gets a free recess!
